Alex Mercer is ChainGain’s lead analyst and primary content creator. Alex first entered the cryptocurrency space in 2019, initially purchasing Bitcoin and quickly expanding into altcoin trading, DeFi protocols, and derivatives markets. Over the years, Alex has tested dozens of exchanges, experienced the full spectrum of market cycles — including the 2021 bull run, the 2022 bear market, and the institutional adoption wave of 2024-2025 — and developed a deep understanding of what separates reliable platforms from those that put user funds at risk.

Alex’s areas of expertise include:

• Exchange evaluation: Testing centralized and decentralized platforms through actual account creation, deposits, trading, and withdrawals — not just reading feature lists
